Some very good reasons for booking a Mexico vacation special and choosing the best of luxury hotels the Maroma Resort in the Mayan Riviera
Many people are looking for a Mexico Vacation Special but the brochures have too many choices, so before making any decision you need to check out the Maroma Resort on the Mayan Riviera Mexico
You first realize that the Maroma Resort in the Mayan Riviera in Mexico is an absolutely top class Mexico Vacation Special is when you finish a short but quite worrying five minute ride through thick jungle on an unpaved road, once you leave the main tarmac road.
You really wonder quite what you will find at the end of the track, when you suddenly emerge into a courtyard that instantly reminds you of a Mexican hacienda, with white walls, and glimpses of thatched turrets. If you arrive in the dark, the floodlit courtyard is truly stunning, and the personal greeting by name further reinforces that this is somewhere special.
You see the sun shining off the pool, and are suddenly aware of a group of what you assume to be staff members awaiting your arrival, and it is only then that you realize they are staff members, and that this is the Maroma Resort probably one of the absolutely best hotels on the Mayan Riviera.
Maroma Hotel is really special, as is already obvious it is a real Caribbean hideaway, and it is difficult to believe that this hidden gem is located along 25 acres of beachfront on a 500 acre Mayan Riviera coconut plantation. The maroma resort and Spa is totally luxurious and built in the style of the old Mexican haciendas.
One of the most obvious things about the Maroma Resort is the level of service which makes it stand out on a coast that isn’t short of hotels, but it can genuinely say it is a luxury hotel, and after one visit it is obvious why it is possibly the best choice for a Mexico Vacation Special. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff.
When you check in, the staff will endeavor to discover your likes, dislikes and any special requirements, then you will be whisked to your room. There are only 65 rooms and a four bedroom villa, which just about qualifies the Maroma resort as a boutique luxury hotel.
The rooms all feature locally sourced materials, hand painted Mexican floor tiles, mahogany cabinets, beds are enveloped in soft white netting, and the effect is spectacular. Whilst there are televisions, they are only on request, and they only play DVD’s, so it is great to escape from the real world whilst on your Mexican Vacation Special.
Room service is superb, and the day will begin with steaming pots of coffee delivered to the room at the time you have requested, and the room service breakfast is quite exceptional.
When it comes to facilities, if Spas are the thing to complete your vacation, then the huge spa is worth the trip alone. Ancient Mayan Healing underpins many of the treatments.
As you can imagine, the Maroma Hotel and Spa on the Mayan Riviera isn’t cheap, but it is well worth the cost. You are only an hour or so away from the ancient Mayan site of Tulum, and Chichen Itza probably the best known site is around three hours drive. Another feature that is important is that there is very limited access for children less than sixteen years old.
Maroma has to be amongst the best hotels anywhere. It has an understated elegance, so if you want a Mexican vacation Special, then you couldn’t choose better.
Azucar is near the small community of Monte Gordo, Veracruz, on Mexico’s Costa Esmeralda, bordering the Gulf of Mexico. As a choice for your luxury Mexico vacation, or Mexico Honeymoon, you would be pressed to choose a better destination than this intimate white walled and somewhat minimalistic hotel.
It is quite a long way from Veracruz airport to Azucar, but your vehicle will be airconditioned, and you’ll find the unspoiled Mexican towns and scenery fascinating over the two and a half hour trip.
When you arrive you’ll think Azucar is Paradise found, especially if you can book a villa right on top of the sea, with it’s spacious all white room, and a hammock you can lie and enjoy a cool beer, whilst listening to the sounds of the waves crashing onto the shore.
Nowhere is far from the accommodation, so the aromas of the food will tempt you, and you won’t be disappointed by the quality or quantity.
If you are like most people, then a vacation, whether it is a Mexican Vacation Special, and you are on a Mexico honeymoon vacation, or a luxury Mexico vacation, there are certain pleasures you expect. Great food, fantastic accommodation and ambience, unobtrusive, and very efficient and friendly staff, and peace and tranquillity where there aren’t too many other people that you are aware of. In addition great weather!!
The Azucar supplies all of this, and of course it is far from being a cheap Mexico Vacation, in fact it is definitely at the luxury end of the market.
It is best to go in March where the Mexico weather in the Gulf of Mexico is warm and sunny, somewhat humid with early morning cloud. There will be a cooling breeze, and importantly few biting insects!! A deserted beach is a great attraction, although the waves restrict swimming, you will find it clean.
The Azucar has twenty villas, all almost identical scattered across the small property. They have thatched roof terraces, hammocks, and large pillows. This is a hideaway hotel in the middle of nowhere and absolutely perfect for a Mexico Honeymoon Vacation or any Mexico Travel holiday package if you love quality and solitude..
There is an upper and a lower terrace, and the extra touches such as flat screen TV, and toiletries are what you would expect on any luxury mexico vacation.
There is a small but lovely pool, and again large pillows to lounge about on, and certainly warm enough to swim.
The food at Azucar is superb, simple, beautifully cooked , relatively inexpensive, and open from breakfast through to dinner. If you want food in your room, then that is no problem at all. There is a Spa on a neighbouring property owned by the management of the Azucar. High quality, and not expensive..
The staff are very helpful and pleasant, so all in all the Azucar fulfils most of the requirements for a top class luxury Mexico holiday package.

Any time you embark on a journey to a new and unfamiliar destination, it’s fun to learn a bit about the history and culture; if nothing else, the knowledge informs the stops you include on your itinerary. So as you plan your stay in a Villa Rental Puerto Vallarta, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the Mexican people and their culture, including their horses.
In fourteen hundred and ninety-two . . .You may not know it, but Mexico has a rich horse tradition, dating back to the 1500s. The first horses arrived in what was then New Spain with the conquistadors (a lengthy and not always heart-warming story in itself). The Spanish relied on their horses to cover the vast distances of Mexico. It didn’t take long, however, for another import, cattle, to become an important economic commodity, and the horse assumed a new role: ranch equipment.
Of course, most horses do their best herding and cutting under the guidance of a human; that combination of cattle, horse and man created the vaquero, Mexico’s cowboy. The vaquero didn’t become an idealized figure in his native land like the cowboy did in the US, but the horse managed to work its way into the country’s heart and soul.
A bit of this, a little of that . . .
Because it is not native to Mexico, there was no distinctly native horse breed in that country – that is, until the 1970s, when a group of breeders started a program to establish a new one. Their work resulted in the Azteca, today the National Horse of Mexico. It is a splendid animal that is nimble and fast and uniquely Mexican.
If you do a bit of digging, you’ll learn that there are specific criteria that define the conformation of an Azteca. And the breeding formula is as close to rocket science as you can get without a space ship – suffice to say that the Azteca’s bloodlines include very specific proportions of Spanish (Andalusian and Lusitano) and Quarterhorse. The crossbreeding program includes five intermediate stages; after three generations passing through those stages, it is possible to arrive at Azteca A, a purebred horse.
It’s not necessary to know the exact bloodline of a horse to enjoy its performance. Take an afternoon or evening away from your villa rental Puerto Vallarta and do some horse-watching. You might even be tempted to saddle up and take a trail ride.
