Villas Tranquildad in Playa del Carmen – Culture and Events Everyone
Dec 8th, 2009 by admin

Playa del Carmen Real Estate offers much in terms of lifestyle; besides living in a luxury home or condo next to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Playa’s famous Fifth Avenue offers little shops restaurants, cafes and live music that, in addition to being an attraction for visitors, also provide residents with day to day places to relax and enjoy the city’s pleasant lifestyle.  Nearby communities, such as Villas Tranquilidad in the “El Cielo” development are within close proximity to downtown’s culture and events, only a 15 minute drive away.  It is this lifestyle and atmosphere of a easy-going small city with always something interesting to do that distinguishes Playa del Carmen Real Estate as a choice that stands out from the others.

While there are many aspects to living in Playa del Carmen which give it an edge over other options, there are two which especially stood out during the month of October – food culture and movies and films.

Whether you are into high cuisine, international variety, local Mexican dishes, or just a good meal, Playa del Carmen brings the best together.  In October, Playa del Carmen’s culinary arts where exhibited in the third semifinal Chef of the Year contest, Southeast region, in which 10 chefs participated, including eight from the state of Quintana Roo, which includes Playa, Cancun, Cozumel and Chetumal.  In this international level contest six semifinalists from across the country will compete to move on to the finals. Other areas to  participate are Mexico, Puebla, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Los Cabos.

The event took place in the Convention Center at the Technological University of the Riviera Maya, and was accompanied by lectures from different renowned chefs in the state.  As a part of the nationwide contest, this annual event has gained prestige in promoting the profession of chefs and the culture they add to the area.

“Cuisine has a privileged value not only between participating professionals,” said the mayor of Playa del Carmen, “but also for groups of tourists who visit us for the quality of our food.”  Needless to say, this quality of food is a real benefit for those of us who live here and can enjoy any time.

During the month of October, Playa del Carmen residents also had the opportunity to enjoy special film attractions.  While Playa offers two major movie theaters which show a broad range of the newest American movies, in English, as well as several nearby in Cancun, there are also several film festivals which take place in the area showing international and Mexican films, independent and main stream, in English as well as other languages, with subtitles.

One film festival which took place in October was the fourth annual Riviera Maya Underground Film Festival (RMUFF) which has helped to establish Playa as a benchmark for innovation and cinema culture for filmmakers and fans in Mexico and other countries. This festival joined with two others which took place in this area throughout the year: the Cancun-Riviera Maya International Film Festival Cancun-Riviera Maya and Malayerba Shorts Rally.

During the five-day festival, some 216 works, including documentaries and shorts, which show the growth that this event has undergone since its beginning three years ago. The event concluded with a live sound performance with the silent film “The Man with the movie camera”, produced in 1929 by Russian director Dziga Vertov.  Composer Alexander Ataola was accompanied by the “Ensamble Camara Acción,” a group which performed music specially produced for Vertov’s work, and comprised of musicians with established reputations, such as Chema Arreola on drums, Carlos Maldonado on bass, Daniel Zlotnik, on saxophone and Adrian Terrazas, also in the saxophone and the flute players and Luca Maria Emilia Martinez Ortega, who have been involved with various bands like The Mars

The sound of the film was presented earlier this year in the “Soundtrack Band Cycle”, organized by the National Cineteca “Interferencia 7DIEZ” station of the “Instituto Mexicano de la Radio.”  At the close of the Festival on Sunday 18 October, moviegoers and music lovers in Playa had the opportunity to enjoy an event of the highest quality, never before presented here.  The end of the festival also included awards for the best cuts of the 216 films.  The Festival’s organizers plan to include even more films and shorts in next year’s event.

These two aspects, culinary arts, and movie culture are only two of many other events and aspects available for real estate buyers in Villas Tranquilidad and other top developments in the Playa del Carmen area.  Residents are currently looking forward to the upcoming Riviera Maya Jazz Festival at the end of November.  While Playa del Carmen offers real estate of high quality, a beachfront lifestyle on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and services and infrastructure at its best, life in Playa del Carmen also gives residents a variety in activities, suitable for many different tastes, which, because of Playa’s size and laid back lifestyle, are easily accessible and can be integrated into day to day life without too much effort.
